Lipid intelligence

Oil for Skin Barrier Care

Explore Dafee's facial oils for skin barrier care, formulated around lipid intelligence, cold-pressed, and made from carefully selected plant oils. The skin barrier is a lipid structure. When it weakens, the answer isn't more water, it's the fats, oils, and ceramides that hold the barrier together. Every oil in this collection is designed to replenish those lipids from the outside in.

Questions Fréquentes

The skin barrier weakens from over-cleansing, harsh actives (strong acids, retinoids used incorrectly), hot water, cold weather, stress, and age-related lipid decline. When ceramides and fatty acids are depleted faster than the skin can replace them, the barrier loses its ability to hold water in and keep irritants out.

Because persistent dryness is usually a lipid deficit, not a hydration problem. Water-based moisturisers add water to the surface, but without the structural fats — ceramides, fatty acids, cholesterol — that water evaporates. A lipid-rich oil replenishes what's structurally missing.

Sacha inchi oil is exceptionally high in alpha-linolenic acid (ALA), a plant-based omega-3 the skin uses to support barrier lipids. Cold-pressing preserves the fatty acid profile that heat-based extraction can degrade, keeping the oil biologically active on application.

Many people with oily or reactive skin tolerate lipid-rich facial oils well, especially when the barrier is compromised. A weakened barrier often shows up as skin that feels simultaneously oily and sensitive. Patch-test first and introduce the oil gradually into your routine.

Apply a few drops to clean skin, morning or evening. Oils work best as a final hydrating step, layered after any water-based products you use. Follow the specific usage instructions on the product page for the oil you choose.
