Our foundations

Dafee was built on a simple observation: lipids are often misunderstood.

In modern nutrition and skincare, fats are frequently reduced to calories, labels, or trends. Yet biologically, lipids are structural molecules. They form cell membranes, regulate signaling pathways, and participate in the transport of energy and nutrients throughout the body.

Understanding lipids as functional components — rather than isolated ingredients — is the starting point of our approach.

Responsible Sourcing

Dafee works with plant-based raw materials sourced from regions where Sacha Inchi has historical and agricultural roots.

Our responsibility is twofold:

• Ensure traceability
• Support sustainable cultivation practices

Education Over Manipulation

We prioritise informed decision-making.

• No pseudo-scientific fear tactics.
• We educate on lipid balance and allow consumers to choose.
• Commercial integrity builds durable trust.

Plant-Based Accessibility

By focusing on ALA from botanical origins, Dafee contributes to:

• Diversification of Omega-3 sources
• Reduced pressure on marine ecosystems
• Greater accessibility for plant-based consumers

Structure Before Claims

Our formulations are guided by biological structure.

Fatty acids are not abstract nutrients. They become part of living tissues. Over time, dietary lipids are incorporated into cell membranes, while topical lipids interact with the skin’s barrier matrix.

This structural perspective shapes how we select ingredients and how we think about product design.

We prioritize composition, balance, and integrity over short-term positioning or cosmetic trends.

Essential Fatty Acids as a Foundation

Certain fatty acids cannot be produced by the human body. These essential fatty acids must be obtained through diet.

Among them, alpha-linolenic acid (ALA) plays a central role as the plant-derived omega-3 fatty acid that initiates the omega-3 metabolic pathway.

From a nutritional perspective, supporting essential fatty acid intake contributes to broader lipid metabolism.

From a skincare perspective, lipid balance influences the integrity and comfort of the skin barrier.

These two domains are biologically connected.

Minimal Processing, Maximum Integrity

The way an oil is produced influences its structure.

Cold pressing and traceable sourcing allow plant oils to retain their natural triglyceride composition. This approach prioritizes preservation of the original fatty acid profile rather than industrial modification.

Our philosophy favors processes that respect the inherent properties of the raw material.

Transparency in sourcing and production is therefore part of how we define quality.

Inside and Outside: One Biological Logic

Nutrition and skincare are often treated as separate disciplines. In reality, both interact with the body’s lipid systems.

Dietary fats influence membrane composition and lipid transport.

Topical oils interact with the skin’s lipid matrix and barrier function.

Recognizing this shared biology informs our dual approach: supporting lipid balance from within and reinforcing the skin barrier from the outside.

Continuing Inquiry

Scientific knowledge of lipids continues to develop.

New insights into fatty acid metabolism, membrane dynamics, and lipid signaling refine how we understand nutrition and skin physiology.

Our work is shaped by this evolving field.

Our foundations remain grounded in structural thinking, transparency, and respect for biological complexity.

FAQs

How should I use Dafee oils?

Our oils can be used according to the product’s intended application.

Nutritional oils are typically used as finishing oils in cold preparations such as salads, vegetables, grains, or smoothies. They can also be taken directly, for example one spoonful per day (approximately 5 ml) as part of a regular routine.

Regenerative facial oil is applied in small amounts after cleansing, ideally on slightly damp skin, as part of a daily skincare routine to support skin comfort and barrier balance.

Detailed guidance is provided on each product page.

Can I use the facial oil on sensitive skin?

Our regenerative facial oil is formulated to support the skin barrier and is suitable for most skin types, including dry or sensitive skin.

As with any cosmetic product, we recommend performing a patch test before regular use.

Where are your oils sourced and how are they produced?

Our sacha inchi oils are sourced from traceable crops grown in Colombia, where the plant is naturally adapted to the local environment.

The seeds are mechanically cold-pressed to extract the oil, which is then naturally clarified before bottling. This process helps preserve the oil’s original fatty acid composition and avoids the use of solvent extraction.

Traceability and minimal processing are central to our approach to quality.

Are your oils refined or chemically processed?

No solvent extraction is used.

The oil is mechanically pressed and naturally clarified before bottling.
